The Classroom/Lab

The EDS Financial Trading and Technology Center is a laboratory for the creation of innovative teaching techniques applied to all levels of education using the cutting-edge audio-visual technology that enhance teaching and makes distance learning easier. The classroom has 39 workstations that provide students with access to real-time data feeds from three leading providers of financial information: Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters and StockVal. In addition, the classroom is equipped with the following:
Touch Screen Master Control Monitor The Touch Screen Monitor allows the user to select the type of image source from a menu. The menu includes: the document cam, the 3M board, main computer, laptop, VCR, and DVD. Once an image is selected it can be seen on the projector or preview monitor. A user can also change the light settings in the room and the audio levels for presentation on the touch screen monitor.
Document Camera The Document Camera is a high tech overhead projector. It expands the user options for presentation by allowing you to place anything under the camera for viewing.
3M Digital Wall Display The 3M digital wall display is an interactive touch screen projection board.
Laptop A laptop port allows a user to connect their laptop for a presentation.
Computer The instructor computer has Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, and StockVal installed as well as the Microsoft Office suite and internet access.
Smart Sympodium The Sympodium is an interactive touch screen monitor connected to the instructor computer that allows the user to digitally annotate the image on the screen.
VCR/DVD The classroom offers recording capabilities to anyone requesting a copy of their presentation or teaching program.
Video Projector The high-resolution video projector allows the presenter to project any source onto the large screen in the front of the room.
Preview Monitor The Preview Monitor is a 60" NEC plasma that previews the input source selected on the touch screen monitor before it is displayed on the projector screen.
Cameras Four Sony cameras stationed around the classroom are
used for videoconferencing.
